On Friday 18. December 2020 the first workshop for development of lifelong learning programs in the field of horse breeding and equestrian sports was held at Križevci College of Agriculture as part of the EquiEdu project. Members of the expert working group discussed the necessary prerequisites for development and implementation of life long learning program for grooms and tourist horse riding instructor.
After the introductory speech of the project manager Valentina Papić Bogadi,Ph.D. vice-dean of Križevci College of agriculture Tatjana Jelen, Ph.D. presented the formal conditions that these programs must meet in order to be accredited to be carried out at the College. Secretary General of the Croatian Equestrian Federation Željko Gagro, M.Sc presented why it is necessary to create programs for grooms and tourist horse riding instructors and pointed out the fact that in Croatia there are no programs in this area, and the need for such staff is growing every day, especially in facilities dealing with rural tourism that includes sightseeing by means of trail riding. This was followed by a discussion in which other members of the expert working group provided valuable contribution: Mato Čačić, Ph.D., on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Morana Torre on behalf of the Roza Cooperative which deals with horse breeding, riding school, trail and field riding, Ljiljana Gagro, long-time licensed riding coach at the Academic Equestrian Club Križevci and Damir Alagić,Ph.D. college professor who teaches courses related to horse breeding at Križevci College of agriculture. As part of the workshop, a working group of experts defined the key elements for each program and will continue to work on the development of the above programs in the coming months.
